New York based composer Zach Abramson combines his diverse backgrounds in Classical, Narrative, Popular and Adaptive music to create immersive and interactive musical experiences.
Best known for his award-nominated work on the Just Cause video game franchise- as composer for Just Cause 4 (2018) and its DLCs (2019), as well as providing additional compositions on Just Cause 3 (2015)- Zach also wrote the music for Systemic Reaction's first title Second Extinction (2021), and is currently composing the score for Contraband from Xbox Games and the first title from Max Spielberg’s studio Fuzzybot, code-named Project Saturn.
In addition to his work in video games, Zach’s collaborations run the gamut from immersive musical theater to dark independent film. This wide array of styles and sounds is anchored by his focus on rhythm and visceral emotion, honed by both his classical training and years touring as a bass player with dance acts like French Horn Rebellion.
In 2015, Zach partnered with his close friends and collaborators to join the music and audio production team at YouTooCanWoo, where he has contributed to a number of award-winning documentaries, including Geoff McFetridge: Drawing a Life, which won the Audience Award at SXSW 2023, the Cinema Eye Honors-nominated score for Mateo, the Webby award-winning Coke Habit, and I Heart NY, which premiered at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival.
Zach has presented lectures and been featured on panels at PAX South, MAGFest, gamescom Asia, AES NY, FIT, Berklee College of Music and NYU, where he has joined the adjunct faculty as a composition teacher specializing in interactive and game music.
Zach received his Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees at the Manhattan School of Music where he studied with Richard Danielpour and Nils Vigeland.
